Link building and your position in Google

The position of a website in Google depends on many factors, among which is the acquisition of valuable links. They must be valuable in order to inspire confidence in Google.

Internal, external and graphic links

We can divide links by the destination to which they take the user. Internal links allow us to "move" within a single site, but between its various tabs and documents. Internal linking is used in blog texts, referring the reader to another article, or in tutorials where we link to specific products. We also have external links, which in turn take the viewer to another site. In this way, we encourage him to read a specific infographic, video or product description.

There are also graphic links, which are in the form of an image. By clicking on the graphic, we are sent to a specific page.

Links of value to Google

Not every link will interest Google, and not every link will be a factor for Google, allowing it to grant your site a higher position in searches. It is important that the site has a lot of authority and is therefore "liked" by Google. The location of the link is also of great importance. It pays to place them in the middle of the text, on the other hand, links in the footer and sidebar are without causal power. We always place links on a page that is thematically related to ours. Only then linking makes sense and brings the desired results. Moreover, Google will look favorably on our links. Otherwise, it may treat them as SPAM. We pay attention to the words present in the closest link area. These are the ones that Google takes into account when analyzing the link's thematic compatibility with the site.

The content we click on is the anchor text. It must be well and precisely described, and therefore point to its target source. If it is "interior designer," it is a signal to Google that the link redirects to the interior designer's website.

Where to get links from?

There are many sources of links, and it is a good idea to use many, not limiting yourself to just one. When choosing sites, keep in mind the aforementioned key factors for Google when analyzing links.

A good way to acquire links is to create articles and publications intended for other industry sites as guest texts. One of the best areas for link building is a company blog. On it we publish content about our offerings, all kinds of guides, inspiration and instructions. At the same time, we share our knowledge, gain the trust of our audience and create the image of an expert, and post links to other pages and products, which is valuable to Google and translates into a higher search engine position. We can also include links in social media posts and all kinds of forums.

Link building is an ongoing process, and while it has a beginning, it does not, or rather should not, have an end. Activity within your site, as well as your footprints on other sites, is a signal to Google that you are worthy of interest. If you stop being active, Google forgets about you.
